From the music team to morning tea, Whump helps you coordinate every volunteer ministry — without the WhatsApp chaos.
Free for congregations with up to 30 active volunteers. No credit card required.
If any of these hit close to home, you're not alone — and Whump was built for exactly this.
Your music team leader is texting everyone individually to confirm Sunday's roster
You have three different spreadsheets for greeters, AV, and children's ministry
Your food safety certificate for the kitchen team expired last month — and nobody noticed
A volunteer said yes to both the early service and the late service by mistake
Your 78-year-old flower arranging volunteer doesn't have email — she finds out about changes through her daughter
Purpose-built features that match the way church volunteer ministry actually works.
Create separate categories for each ministry team — Music, Greeters, AV/Sound, Children's Ministry, Morning Tea, Cleaning, Flower Arranging. Assign a team leader as the category admin who manages only their team's roster, without seeing other ministries' details.
Specify exactly which roles each service needs: 1 Pianist, 1 Drummer, 2 Singers, 1 Sound Operator, 4 Greeters. See at a glance if Sunday's coverage is complete — and which roles still need filling.
For congregation members who don't use smartphones or email, admins manage their roster on their behalf. They count as active volunteers without needing an account — perfect for your flower arranging team and older congregation members.
Track Working With Children checks, food safety certificates, and police checks for anyone working with children or food. Receive automatic email alerts 45 and 15 days before any certificate expires.
Set up your weekly Sunday service roster once and it repeats automatically. Edit a single Sunday or update all future Sundays at once. No more rebuilding the same roster from scratch each week.
If a volunteer is scheduled for both the 8:45am and 10:30am services, Whump flags the conflict before you save — so you catch double-bookings before they become a problem on Sunday morning.
Manage rosters for multiple services (early, late, midweek) or multiple venues from one admin account. Each service has its own shift, its own role requirements, and its own set of assigned volunteers.
Whump handles both volunteers and paid staff in the same system. Set up employment records, timesheets, leave management, and payroll exports to Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and more — all from the same platform you use to roster your volunteers.

The Seed plan is free forever for congregations with up to 30 active volunteers — no credit card required. Growing churches start from $29 AUD/month.
See all plans and pricing →Yes. Whump supports category-level admin permissions. You can assign a ministry leader as admin for just their category — your Music Team leader sees and manages the music roster, but cannot view the Greeters or Children's Ministry rosters. Each team stays self-contained while your overall admin keeps the complete picture.
Whump has a feature called Organisation Managed Volunteers (OMVs) for exactly this situation. OMVs don't need an account — an admin manages their shifts on their behalf. They count toward your active volunteer limit and can be assigned to any shift or compliance register. Many churches use this for congregation members who prefer to hear about roster changes in person or via a phone call.
Yes. Compliance registers let you track any document type with an expiry date. Set up a Working With Children Check register, a Food Safety Certificate register, or anything else relevant to your ministry. Whump sends automatic alerts 45 and 15 days before each certificate expires, so nothing slips through.
Yes. Each service is a separate shift with its own volunteer assignments and role requirements. You can specify exactly which roles are needed for the 8:45am service versus the 10:30am service. Whump will also flag if a volunteer is accidentally assigned to both, before you save.
Yes. SMS reminders are available on paid plans. You can connect your own SMS provider (Plivo, Twilio, Telstra, and others are supported). Volunteers receive a weekly roster SMS and, optionally, a 24-hour reminder before their shift. The free Seed plan includes email notifications for all volunteers.
